Why Low Fire Ceramic Beads, Buttons and Pendants? The reason I have called this workshop Low Fire Ceramic Beads, Buttons and Pendants is that is how I started out. Local ceramic studios don?t routinely fire at high temperatures because of the kind of slip they cast with. So that is how I learned. I think that low fire is a more applicable for the beginner or person new to ceramic bead making because low fire kiln time is more accessible and supplies are less expensive. I also imagine that beaders who are using kilns for Precious Metal Clay could use the same kiln for low fire ceramic beads, as they are fired at about 1850 degrees and many of the newer jewelry kilns fire to 2000 degrees.
